Where Did You Go?

While blogging, I have met many people led by the love of writing. Most of those blogs and their bloggers are still around; others have quietly disappeared, vanished with barely a warning. One of my favorite blogs, LolaCandi, vanished last year. Written by Lola Gentry-Dey and Candi Sweet, two intelligent writers who are also cousins to each other, their blogs had reasoning and wit and great stories and poems; it saddened me to see it gone.

So, in quick memoriam I share a few of my favorite lines from LolaCandi:

The way to build a house is to build it. The way to write is to write. Whichever you choose, make it work for you.

The boy who lost his mother gnarled like a bear—tough bear he; but further from the bestial than he pretended—he had softness in his eyes.

I am told of a home where the courtier and the heretic are hostage to the devil where the good life is the joy of hiking black holes.

Faces fading like new literature, soft and pale, sink into the quicksand of poverty. Their government turned their dollars into pennies. One hundred George Washingtons won’t buy a fist fight today.

Wherever you are, Lola and Candi, write on. And someday may you blog again.
