Dressing

I clothe myself in my past transgressions
And I like how I look in them
Their style
Their color
Their length

But you would strip me naked of my past
Just to dress me like a doll you like
But I’m not you
And you can’t change me—
No you can’t

I dress myself in everything you hate
Although I’m really everything you love
My sex
My world
My life

But you would strip me naked of my religion
Just to dress me like the Christ you wear
But I’m not you
And you can’t change me—
No you can’t
